Hawaii Rental Application | PDF
A Hawaii rental application allows a landlord or sublessor to view a tenant’s credit and background information. This simply allows the landlord to verify the tenant’s income, their employment history, credit score, and verify with previous landlords that the applicant doesn’t have a negative rental history. The landlord is allowed to charge a non-refundable fee for this service ($25 to $50) and it should take no more than 2 to 3 days for a decision to be made.

There is no maximum to how much a landlord can charge a tenant in the State of Hawaii. Although for best practices, it is best to not charge more than the cost to provide the credit check.
