A Louisiana roommate agreement allows more than one (1) person to establish an arrangement and rules for living and sharing the same property. It can be made as a separate agreement from the master lease or attached as part of the same. In addition to the rent required to be paid by each roommate, living standards should be included, such as rules for guests, quiet times, and cleaning responsibilities.

There will be many subjects that should be covered in such an agreement. Some of the subjects in this form are:

  • Security Deposit
  • Rent
  • Lease Term
  • Utilities
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Cleaning
  • Key Deposits
  • Internet Expenses
  • Parking
  • Behavior
  • Shared Areas

It should be noted that while some areas of this form may be left blank (i.e. Quiet hours for studying), some areas must be filled in (i.e. Rent Amount). One thing that should be kept in mind when filling out the terms of this agreement is that it may only operate within the parameters of the Master Lease. For instance, if the Master Lease does not allow for indoor smoking, then this agreement may not allow it. When utilized correctly, this agreement will promote a defined rental arrangement where all the members have assured a certain level of security and provide a reference and guideline for what is expected of them.
