A Missouri sublease agreement can be used by a person that is renting a property from a landlord who wishes to rent a portion of their living space to another individual (the sublessee). All the terms of the original or “Master” lease remain the same, and the original tenant is still responsible for paying the landlord every month (whether or not the sublessee pays). The original tenant may have to obtain permission from the landlord to conduct this type of tenancy as it is typically prohibited in a standard one (1) year residential lease. Once the sublease is authorized, it becomes a legal document, and both parties must abide by its terms and conditions until the end of the term.
